custom scooter sound system
here is a sound system i installed on my scooter (scroll down for pics).
it actually gets quite loud, you can still hear it at a good 55-60mph.
(quick guidance/inspiration from layne's bosshogg scooter)
components
tools & hardware
- electric drill (for punching assorted holes and the speaker grills - drill from the inside-out)
- 1/4" thick pieces of plexiglass (for mounting, between speakers and console)
- hand-held power saw (to cut the plexiglass)
- soldering iron and solder (to solder the switch into the circuit)
- vice grips, standard scooter tool-kit (for disassembly and reassembly)
wiring description (i think)
- positive terminal of scooter battery to power terminal on amp
- remote terminal on amp to ground terminal on amp (since there is no head-unit like in a car)
- ground terminal on amp to the bike's frame
- ground terminal on amp to glove-box switch
- swtich to negative terminal on battery
- todo: revise this to get the switch's light to turn on with the sound system
note: my scooter's electrical system generates 150W so i have the amp turned up to about 2/3. cranking it all the way doesnt blow anything out or dim the lights but i keep it at 2/3 just in case.
